Tested batch by batch

Buyers qualify quartz on its impurity profile and particle size, batch after batch. That is what we measure and report.

What each Certificate of Analysis covers

Each commercial batch is tested for SiO2 and relevant impurity elements. The results are documented in a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis.

What the Certificate of Analysis reports
ParameterReportedWhy it matters
SiO2Measured per batchThe main component. For high-purity material it is usually calculated as 100% minus the measured impurities, so it depends on which impurities were measured.
Fe2O3Measured per batchIron tints glass and changes the fired colour of ceramics.
Al2O3Measured per batchA common impurity in natural quartz. Some of it sits inside the crystal lattice, where processing cannot remove it.
TiO2Measured per batchAnother impurity that can sit in the lattice and limit the purity the material can reach.
CaO, Na2O, K2OMeasured per batchCalcium and the alkalis change melting behaviour and high-temperature performance.
Other trace elementsOn request, by agreed methodNeeded where your process is sensitive to specific elements.
MoistureMeasured per batchAffects weight, flow and drying cost.
Particle-size distributionAgainst your specificationDecides whether a grade suits your process at all.

The method matters as much as the result

X-ray fluorescence (XRF) is common for major oxides, but its detection limits are too high to confirm impurities at the parts-per-million level. Plasma methods, ICP-OES and ICP-MS, measure trace elements far lower.

ICP-MS assay results for our material are available to qualified buyers on request. Ask for the method and detection limit behind any figure, ours included.

Specified batch by batch

Purity varies by deposit, vein, mining area and processing route, so each batch is analysed and reported on its own Certificate of Analysis. For most industrial processes, a stable impurity profile across shipments matters more than a single high result. We agree the specification with you and hold it from shipment to shipment.
